Finance Isle of Man Joins UNDP Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) Network
03 December 2024
Finance Isle of Man has announced that it has become the latest member of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) network. This milestone was officially revealed at the Irish-UK Transition Finance Summit in Dublin, further solidifying the Isle of Man’s dedication to advancing sustainable finance on the global stage.
Joining the FC4S network marks a significant step in delivering one of the key pillars of the recently launched Isle of Man Sustainable Finance Roadmap. The roadmap sets out a clear vision for transforming the Island into a globally recognised hub for sustainable finance, with a focus on fostering innovation, aligning with global sustainability best practices, and contributing to net zero and nature-positive goals.
Isle of Man Minister for Enterprise, Tim Johnston MHK will attend the Summit, taking part in a fireside chat with the Irish Minister for Climate Eamon Ryan TD. The Isle of Man’s attendance at this event further demonstrates the collaborative approach the jurisdiction is taking to achieve their sustainable finance ambitions – tapping into the strong existing network of expertise in this space across the British Isles.
Finance Isle of Man will now look forward to working with other FC4S members to exchange expertise, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to global efforts to align finance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.
Tim Johnston, Isle of Man Minister for Enterprise, MHK, commented: “We are pleased to join the UNDP FC4S network as its 45th member. This milestone demonstrates our commitment to advancing sustainable finance on a global stage. Our Sustainable Finance Roadmap sets out our ambition to align the Isle of Man’s financial services sector with international best practices and contribute to the global transition to a low-carbon economy. Being part of the FC4S network provides us with invaluable opportunities to collaborate, share knowledge, and drive meaningful change.”
Oscar Njuguna, Co-Chair of UNDP FC4S, welcomed the Isle of Man to the network, stating: "We are delighted to welcome Finance Isle of Man as the newest member of the FC4S network. Their inclusion reflects a growing recognition among financial centres worldwide of the critical role they play in accelerating the shift to sustainable and resilient economies. The Isle of Man’s commitment to sustainability, as outlined in its recently launched roadmap, will bring fresh perspectives and energy to our collective efforts. We look forward to working closely with them to achieve our shared goals.”
