Building A Bridge to Youth Employment

24 January 2025 08:30

Junior Achievement Isle of Man are hosting a youth employment event on January 24th at the Palace Hotel.

It is important for young people to have work opportunities to provide valuable life and career benefits. It helps them to develop work ethic, communications skills, builds financial literacy and boosts confidence and independence. Early exposure to the workplace develops skilled, loyal employees who may grow within the organisation.

In the last six months Junior Achievement received 600 vacancies through Just the Job, only a handful were for people under the age of 18, with one vacancy receiving 200 applications.

The breakfast event will include an update to employers on their recent survey with young people, a range of guest speakers on employing young people and a round table discussion about what are the barriers to getting young people into the job market.

Employers can

  1. Learn how young people can help fill skills gaps.
  2. Get insights on employment trends and legislation.
  3. Influence youth employment strategies in a roundtable discussion.
  4. Build a dynamic workforce and enhance your reputation.
  5. Connect with like-minded professionals.

This event will feature guest speakers on the topic of Youth Employment including representatives from Junior Achievement, Department for Education, Sports & Culture, overviews from businesses employing young people, Department for Enterprise and a round table discussion with employers for feedback.

This event has been subsidised by the Department for Enterprise and includes breakfast refreshments.
