Hortense Bioy Announced as First Keynote Speaker for the Isle of Man Sustainable Finance Symposium 2025

23 October 2025

The Isle of Man Sustainable Finance Initiative is delighted to announce Hortense Bioy, Head of Sustainable Investing Research at Morningstar Sustainalytics, as a keynote speaker at the Isle of Man Sustainable Finance Symposium 2025, taking place on November 5th at the Villa Marina, Douglas.

Based in London, Hortense leads Morningstar’s global ESG research efforts, helping investors better understand and evaluate funds through an ESG lens. With more than a decade at Morningstar, she has played a key role in shaping how investors and institutions approach sustainable investing.

Before assuming her global role in 2021, Hortense led Morningstar’s sustainability research in EMEA and previously served as European Director of Passive Strategies Research, overseeing an award-winning team focused on ETFs and index funds. Her earlier career includes roles as a financial journalist at Bloomberg and as an M&A analyst at Société Générale in Hong Kong.

Hortense will deliver Keynote 1: Trends & Global Opportunities in Sustainable Investing, exploring the rapidly evolving ESG investment landscape. As the sector navigates global headwinds — including the ESG backlash in parts of the U.S. and shifting government priorities — Hortense will share insights into how new regulatory developments, such as the UK’s Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and the EU’s ESMA fund-naming guidelines, are shaping the future of responsible investment.

Her session will also highlight the growing opportunities for investors as governments around the world prioritise security, competitiveness, energy independence, and resilience.

Hortense's keynote address has been kindly sponsored by Capital International.
