An Isle of Man based finance professional, Dionne Wall, has won a leading industry award.

The Chartered Insurance Institute (‘CII’) Awards celebrate CII members who have demonstrated exceptional qualities and achievements within the profession.

CII members were asked to nominate individuals whose work with local affiliate institutions and/ or contribution to their local community have helped to raise the bar in their profession. A panel of judges, comprising representatives from the CII and their various societies, then reviewed the nominations and selected winners across seven categories.

The Emerging Professional of the Year 2020 Award went to Dionne Wall, Mortgage Adviser for Financial Options in Douglas.

The Emerging Professional of the Year award is given to a new entrant who has made significant strides in their professional development over the past year and is seen as ‘one to watch’ as they move forward in their career.

Paul Chase, Director of Financial Options who nominated Dionne, commented:

We are very proud of Dionne’s achievements over the last couple of years whilst working for Financial Options. While she started as a summer temp, it soon became clear that she was an extremely competent financial advisor, in particular when it came to working directly with clients and providing very high levels of customer service.

‘Shortly after Dionne started working for us full time, she began studying for the CeMAP mortgage qualification, which qualifies her as a Mortgage Adviser. Dionne embraced the challenge and passed the required exams in a very short space of time, taking only three months when it would usually take around two years. Not satisfied with that success, she went on to sit and pass three CII examinations and is currently studying for a fourth that has been delayed due to lockdown.’

The awards, which are an annual event, are sponsored by Aviva and the trophy was presented by the Minister for Enterprise, Laurence Skelly MHK, who added:

‘These awards provide a platform for celebrating industry leading talent and I am delighted we have the opportunity to showcase the achievements of an individual here in the Isle of Man. It demonstrates that our world-class financial services sector is truly industry leading and I would like to pass on my congratulations to Dionne and her colleagues at Financial Options.’

Gillian Marples, the newly appointed President of the Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man, the local branch of the CII, commented:

‘It is great to see new members achieving outstanding recognition and we hope it encourages more people into profession.”

The Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man acts as the educational representative body for all insurance and financial services professionals on the Island. As the leading professional body for the global financial services profession, the CII exists to promote higher standards of integrity, technical competence and business capability.
