Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man – the charity that for more than 30 years has helped hundreds of children, young people, and adults cope with grief following the loss of loved ones – is benefitting from a new partnership with Zurich International.

As part of the leading multi-line insurer, Zurich Insurance Group, Zurich International is well-known for providing financial support to insurance customers that have suffered a bereavement – but the company is now also helping them to access expert help to support their emotional/mental health and wellbeing. That’s why the business – which employs 300 staff at its Isle of Man Business Park HQ – has decided to partner with the Manx registered charity which offers a range of free services to help

Amanda Cafearo, CEO, Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man, said: “We’re extremely grateful that a such a trusted and respected global business has decided to help us to get the message out about the services we offer. It’s a great boost which will allow us to raise awareness of our one-to-one bereavement support, specialist services for children and young people, support groups, plus freely available advice and information about all aspects of bereavement and end of life matters.

Nigel Simpson, Head of International Markets, Zurich International, commented: “Recent events have placed additional pressures on charities, which is why we have stepped up our ongoing support programme for third sector organisations that contribute so much to Island life. We will be using our online and social media channels to promote Cruse’s services to our life and savings customers. We’re also looking to create volunteering opportunities for our employees. It’s a great partnership which will enable Cruse to help even more bereaved individuals and families when they need it most.”

Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man relies heavily on volunteers and fundraisers. Right now they need volunteers for admin and office support roles, plus people who can organise events to raise funds and awareness. Bereavement support volunteers are also needed – there’s an annual intake with the next one being in spring 2021. Full training is provided. Find out more at

Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man is partly funded by a grant from the Department of Health and Social Care, but also relies heavily on other donations to run its free services – so Zurich International has also agreed to donate £5,000 per annum to the charity.
